Pops Concert is Saturday, May 18th and Sunday, May 19th at 7 PM in The Rock. There are no advance tickets sold. The cost is $5 a person at the door.

The After-prom Committee is looking for parent volunteers to help with Saturday night's After-prom at the Gemini Center. We need volunteers to work Saturday, May 25th from 11:00 p.m. to 3:00 a.m. We will take whatever time you can offer. If you cannot donate time, we are in need of monetary and food donations to help offset the costs. Chick-fil-A Spirit Night! - Before you go to Awards Night at Lutheran West, please join the Lutheran West Golf Team next Tuesday, May 21 for Chick-fil-A Spirit Night from 5-8 PM at the Westgate Chick-fil-A. All proceeds will help the golf team offset the costs of equipment and course fees.

Awards and Recognition Night will be this coming Tuesday, May 21st at 7:00 PM in the Jochum Performing Arts Center.

All girls interested in Football Cheerleading for this upcoming fall . Clinic and Tryout will be conducted Saturday, May 18th from 9:00 AM - 1:00 PM. We hope to see many new faces!

Lutheran West Prom is Saturday, May 25, 2013 from 6:00 p.m. till 11:30 PM. Doors will open at 6:00 PM. Dinner at 7:00 PM. Tickets are $60 per person and will be sold through Friday, May 17th in the Commons after school. A list of tables (8 or 10 students) must be given when all tickets are purchased. Permission slips are required if a guest is not from Lutheran West.

Current Juniors: Plan to attend the Summer College Boot Camp on August 1 and 2. The Boot camp is a hands-on experience where you will work on actual college application materials, including college essays. We will also hold an ACT/SAT review session to help students taking these tests in the fall. Admission interviewing techniques will also be covered. Space is limited. See Mrs. Slack for

Thank you to all the students, faculty and staff who made CitySERVE 2013 a huge success. God blessed us with beautiful weather and a lot of great service was accomplished for those in need.

A reminder to all students that participated in CityServe that you need to turn in a service record form to receive credit for your service hours. Mr. Ressler will sign the form after you turn it in to the box in the IMC. Make sure the rest of the form is completed correctly.

All Junior and Senior girls have the opportunity to visit Classic Closet located in Westlake. Classic Closet is an upscale consignment shop that carries current prom, cocktail and formal dresses for a fraction of department store prices! All Lutheran West students who purchase a dress from Classic Closet will be offered a special discount when mentioning your school. Pick up a coupon in the school office.

Seniors – The Pierstorf Memorial Loan Program provides interest-free loans for Lutheran students who are enrolled full time in a four-year undergraduate program at any accredited college or university. For more information and the application go to www.pierstorf.org

Host Families Needed for International Students. Do you have a heart for youth ministry and an interest in international students? We will be enrolling a number of international students, primarily from China, for the 2013-2014 school year and we are looking for host families. Students typically arrive in early August and return to their home country the following June. A monthly stipend is provided.

Lutheran West and Dr Ed Meyer, Baldwin Wallace University Professor of Physics are co-sponsoring a series of week-long Gedanken Institutes for Problem Solving designed to improve the thinking skills of intellectually curious 12-17 year-olds.

The Institute will provide the opportunity for students to practice deep, sustained thought. It will develop the student's mental strength and stamina. The problems presented are not from any school subject. This is not a "math camp." Problems will involve pattern recognition, risk management, logic, operations research, three-dimensional thinking as well as many others. Students will work in groups to develop communication and consensus-building skills and there will be some competition as well.

Dates for the 2013 Institutes are:

June 24th - 28th (at Lutheran West)
July 8th-12th (at Baldwin Wallace University)
July 22nd - 26th (at Lutheran West)

The 2013 yearbook is on sale. Order forms are available in the IMC or you can order online at: www.yearbookforever.com. The cost is $60. Yearbooks will be sold until May 24th. Be sure to order yours today.

A representative from the Ohio Army National Guard will be visiting on Tuesday, May 21 during 11th period. Please see Mrs. Slack if you would like to sign up for this visit.

If you are planning to participate in a sport for the 2013-2014 school year, a physical is required prior to tryouts. Lutheran West is offering Sports Physicals on Wednesday, May 22, 2013 from 3:15 to 6:00 pm. The physicians from Fairview Hospital’s Center for Family Medicine will come to our school clinic to complete the physicals.

The physical forms are available on the Lutheran West website, as well as in the school office or clinic. Please return the completed forms including the parent’s signature, student’s signature and the $10.00 fee, in order to reserve a spot on the schedule. Make checks payable to Lutheran West. The deadline for forms and payment is Friday, May 10, 2013. There are a limited number of spots which will assigned on a first come first serve basis.
