Districts --
It was slim pickings for the Lutheran West Track team in the OHSAA District Track meet last Thursday and Saturday, as the team performed like what it was—one of the smallest schools in Division II in the State. Generally overwhelmed by the speed and strength of the larger school competition, Lutheran West managed a 13th place finish in the 17 team tournament. That place was based on three performances that produced all of LW’s 10 points.
Junior Marissa Nuti picked up half of those ten points by placing fourth in the 800m Dash. Nuti was the lone Longhorn to qualify for Regionals, finishing with a time of 2:28.48 and only two seconds behind second place. Nuti was LW’s lone winner in the conference meet last week.
Freshman Joanna Ragland continued to impress, finishing in fifth place in the Shot Put. Ragland threw a strong 33’8.5”, but missed qualifying for Regionals by two places and less than a foot.
The rest of LW’s points were picked up by junior Nicole Swanson in the High Jump. Swanson jumped 4’10”, tying her for sixth place in the competition.
