CLEARVIEW --  Lutheran West wasted a tremendous pitching performance from senior Jeremy Geye as the Longhorns fell to host Clearview in a tight game 3-2.  Geye was dynamite from start to finish, throwing the complete game allowing only six hits and walking two.  Both walks ended up scoring.  Geye struck out two.

In an ordinary game, the team that handed out 10 free passes would likely lose to a team that gave out three.  You would also expect that a team that threw half as many pitches (LW-71) as their opponents (Clearview – 144) would win as well.  But in both of those cases, you would be wrong.

LW scored both runs on a single in the first inning by junior Jake Albrecht.  The rest of the game, LW would get runners on base only to strand them.  In total, LW stranded 12 runners, and managed one miserable infield hit in ten attempts with runners in scoring position. West had a runner on third that didn’t score in the first, third, fourth, fifth, and sixth.

West falls to 1-2 in conference.  But all is not lost, as the season is young and West will play Clearview at home later in the year with a chance to make up for the loss.
