Women's CC Surprises after Slow Start

The Women's Cross Country team had an extraordinary season this year. In the beginning, the team was worried they will not have enough runners for a full team. They welcomed two additions to the team just before the season began in senior Madi Carper and freshman Jessica Bradley. These new runners gave them six in all—one more than they needed to have a full team. Quickly adding to their worry, Bradley became injured, giving them the minimum amount of runners for a qualified team. Even with less people, they were able to make the best of it.

The team did their best all season, improving all through the year. This season was very rainy and muddy, so the team had to work extra hard to overcome the conditions of the courses. But what made the season extraordinary was that they surprised everyone—including their coach—by placing in fourth place in the conference race—extremely high considering that they only finished fifth or better one time all year!

Seniors Jackie Culley, Michelle Britton, and Carper ended their career with great times and wonderful memories of the season. Culley is the Women's Cross Country only four-year runner, which is a great accomplishment for her senior year.
