Men's Golf in Rebuilding Mode

After graduating ten seniors over the past two seasons, the 2011 Lutheran West Golf Team was looking to rebuild. The only senior on the team was Katherine Konstan, who also founded the Women’s Golf team in 2007 as its founding member. Konstan ended up playing on the Men’s Varsity team this season due to her superior skill for a female golfer and her leadership abilities.

Junior Kyle DiCapua was the only returning varsity golfer from last year’s team. He earned medalist honors in four conference matches this season and qualified as an individual for the district tournament after his round of 81 at the sectional tournament held at Forest Hills. In well over half of the team’s matches and tournaments this season, DiCapua recorded the lowest score for the Longhorns.

First year varsity members included junior Justin Furfaro, who earned medalist honors in one match this season, sophomore Robert Konstan, and freshman Jacob Brady. The Longhorns are very excited about the 2012 season as the team continues to grow and build toward the future.
