Tolonen composition performed in Cleveland

Lutheran West freshman Joseph Tolonen had his composition "Sonata for Three Oboes" performed May 6, 2012 as part of the Cleveland Composer Guild's Young Composer's Concert at the Cleveland Music Settlement
 

This concert is an annual collaboration between the Cleveland Composer’s Guild and the Cleveland Music Settlement to showcase young performers playing works by professional composers, and young composers, like Joseph, having their compositions being played by professional musicians.

Joseph takes piano, oboe, and music theory lessons at the Cleveland Institute of Music, where he presents his pieces to his music theory teacher, Dr. Jenny Conner, a well-known composer. Joseph has been composing musical pieces over the past year ranging from voice and piano to full band/orchestra pieces.

Nice work, Joseph!  Be sure to watch after the piece is performed as the audience recognizes Joseph for his work.

Joseph was named Sun News Student of the Week in July 2011 for his accomplishments while an 8th grader at Royal Redeemer Lutheran School and is now a member of The Honors Academy at Lutheran West.
