Staff Reports | Thursday, September 21, 2017
Lutheran West pulled off the seemingly impossible, finishing first while rival Buckeye finished fourth in the PAC-12 tournament to win the conference title for the five consecutive year.  West entered the tournament averaging more than 9 strokes per 9 holes more than Buckeye and more consequentially two points behind the Bucks--and tied in the standings with Wellington and Keystone. But West used depth and experience to outshine the field, walk away with the tournament title and more importantly the conference title by one point.

Each regual dual season win is worth two points and each place in the tournament standings is worth.  West entered the tournament with 10 points--two points behind Buckeye's 12.  But Buckeye only earned four points by finishing fourth in the tournament.  West earned seven to push thier total to 17--one more than Buckeye's 16.

The Longhorn golfers won the conference tournament by shooting a 359.  Firelands was second with a 366, Wellington third, with a 370, and Buckeye fourth, with a 375.

Lutheran West was led by Sam Spacek (87) earning 1st Team All Conference, Triston Sopko (86) earning 2nd Team All Conference, Jakob Gross (91) earning 3rd Team All Conference, John Smolik (95) earning 3rd Team All Conference, Hunter West (99), and Tyler Robinson (96).
